Mike Kinds Last Lecture

Seperate successful people from unsuccessful people is fear. People that have fear are scared of making mistakes and scared of doing things wrong. People make assumpstions on there one experience they had or on other peoples experiences. Keep your eyes open all the time and keep your mind open to oppurtunitys that exist. Copy cat means that you copy an idea that is relatively the same as something else that exists but make it alot better in certain ways. The circle of Infleunce is experienceing certain people in different ways. Dont be age restricted learn from certain people. Do not quit bust on through the brick wall. Most true successes happen after a bad struggle with fail. Never stop learning, you can never be to old to stop learning.`Try and have fun ever day of your life. The one point that i found the best was never quit because i think ity is very important to fight through the problems that you face. You have to solve your problems and fight through failures.

The Apprentice

In this episode the teams Net Worth and Magma have to build a miniature golf course and the team that makes the most money wins at the end off the day. The team has to manage the course for one full day and then at the end of the day the person with the least amount of money loses and a person on there team will be fired. At the end of the day it was Audrey who was fired because she wouldn't take any responsibility for anything and she was constantly blaming everyone else for the mistakes in her team. What i learned from this is that you must take responsibility sometimes and not try to blame things on everyone else.

Uro Club

The positives of the Uro club is sometimes gimmicks get very popular and sell very well because everyone wants to join in on the joke. Another positive is it does help with a problem that is existing with men on the golf course releiving themselves. The Negatives to this product is that it doesnt seem like somthing that would be more than just a joke. Alot of golfers are more seroius and would have no interest in purchasing one of these. I would not be interested in investing in this product it just seems really dumb and wouldnt sell very much at all.

Pork Barrell Spice Rub

The positive about this business is that it was rated one of the second best in the nation. Another positive about Pork Barrell Spice Spice Rub is that it is something could get very big very fast especially in America. The negative about this product is it can also go no way very fast. It all depended on how they were gonna market it. I would personally would invest in Brett and Heath's company because they look like they know what there doing and they have a product that is of course good.

Tom's shoes

This business has a great way of working. It sells shoes to the public and for every shoe sold then a pair of shoes is given away. This is a great idea because there is lot of people out there that like to be charitable but would also like to receive something for being charitable. Toms shoes pretty much works off that because people like the idea of being able to buy something for themselves while being charitable at the same time.

Time Managment

If someone knows your screwing up but doesn't tell you or try to teach you anything then that's when you know that they have given up on you. You might never get somewhere but at least you get a good experience and it will give you experience for things in the future. Leadership is a good skill set. Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want. He didn't like to do alot of text book work but more projects. another point is not to be arrogant because it will hold you back in life and you will never be able to achieve your full potential. Another good point he made was that if you really want something then you have to work hard to get it to get through the brick wall.

Reflecting on the experience

Problems that i encountered were almost everyday we ran out of our product and in the process of making our product we had a small grill which made our line ups get very big very fast and people had to wait awhile for their food. We also had a few products that did not sell very well at all. The lesson i learned in this week of selling is you should figure out what products will sell the best and just stick with those instead of buying so many different products. Like the freezies and pogo sticks did not sell well at all. I will apply this later in life because i will make sure i know what sells and what doesnt to garenteed a good product.

google

Google was started by two men named Larry and Sergei. Google turned search into a money making machine. The owners didn't mean to start it it just kinda happened. Any company could have had google but they didn't see it going anywhere so they rejected it. Before they could start it they had to figure out how links in cyber space work. number of quarries went to 10,000 a day then started to millions of quarries a day. Google became so responsive that it would take only a quarter of a second to get more than a million results. they started making lots of money when they figured out how to do advertising. Google seems to be a good place to work. They have great food for lunch and then they come up with new ideas everyday.

Blue ocean strategy

Blue ocean strategy is a business that has no competition.

Cirque de soliel is an example of a blue ocean strategy.

6 points of B.O.S are

1. Reconstruct market boundaries
make a complete new idea.

2.Focus on the big picture not the numbers
Focus on the final project.

3. Reach beyond exicting demand
reach beyond what the existing demand is.

4. Get the strategic sequence right
get the strategic sequence correctly done.

5. Overcome key orginiatizational hurdles
Ovecome the things that are in your way.

6. Build execution into strategy

the only way to beat the competition is to try to stop beating the competition. Industries never stand still. high blue ocean potential has three complementary qualities. If you get into a businness with no competition you have a very good chance of being sucessful. A good example of what a blue ocean strategy would be Cirque du Soliel. This blue ocean strategy company introduced a whole new form of live entertainment which had no competition at the time.

Bobble Place

Jeff came in with a deal asking for 75 thousand in return for 15 percent equity in his business. The sharks were not interested in this concept instead they were interested in his already existing company. Jeff was not willing to give any of his already existing company up. The sharks then offered a 100,000 for 18 percent of his company and forbid Jeff from moving into a mall. Then another shark offered him 125,000 for 20 percent of his company. Both sharks were then out. Jeff just wanted to get publicity i think, and he really didn't want any kinda of deal for his existing company.

"Hunks Hauling Junk"

This shark tank episode was about a two man team that developed a company called "college hunks hauling junk," that is good looking men that come and haul your stuff. That company was a big success and now they wanna start a sister company called "college foxes hauling boxes." They are successful with there first business because people enjoy having good looking people haul there stuff out of there houses instead of greasy old guys.

The main thing i learned from this is that you have to think of what people would want or like and think of something creative to meet there wants and needs to have a successful business. The entrepreneurs didn't really loose or win in this show. they didn't come out with what they wanted but they still had what it took to be successful in there new business.

They probaly should have took the deal because it was a very good deal for them. But in the end they probaly will end up doing just fine in there business. Personally i think they should focus all there energy on they college hunks because there is a lot of problems that with come with the college foxes. Problems that will come with it could be sexual harassment, possibly rape, and women cant haul as heavy stuff as guys.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is a young geeky kid that started facebook. He is worth 3 billion dollars and doesn't buy anything, he lives in a small apartment and works at a normal desk at his work. He was a Harvard drop out who was studying psychology. There website facebook was started in Harvard and through colleges. Mark Zuckerberg felt it was better to hire raw intelligence, which means people with intelligence but less experience because he felt it aloud them more room to develop and get experience. He believes that's its good to have humble team so the business just evolves. He believes to keep operating costs low to increase revenue. He believes its good just to try things out and see if they work or not. He is a thought full listener. And he likes to experiment things through try and fail technique. His employees get free time to hangout with each other, which really helps. Facebook did alot better than myspace because of there marketing target needs and wants. Also facebook is more personal friends were myspace is more public. Also trends come and go where myspace is the trend that is going.

Today in my class i learned many things. I was very to find that lots of friends were in this class. but anyways i learned that attitude reflects leadership, and that is very powerful. I also learned that we really are more capable than we think, its all about confidence. Business works this way aswell.
